Former CIA Director John Brennan fired shots at President Trump on Twitter Monday after he labeled former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman a “lowlife.”
“While I know it’s ‘not presidential’ to take on a lowlife like Omarosa, and while I would rather not be doing so,” Trump wrote on Twitter Monday morning, “this is a modern day form of communication and I know the Fake News Media will be working overtime to make even Wacky Omarosa look legitimate as possible. Sorry!”
The president’s comments followed shortly after Manigault-Newman released a tape that appeared to be secretly recorded phone conversation with Trump, during which the president seems to act as if he is surprised that she was fired.
You’re absolutely right. If you were “presidential,” you would focus on healing the rifts within our Nation, being truthful about the challenges we face, & showing the world that America is still that shining beacon of freedom, liberty, prosperity, & goodness that welcomes all. https://t.co/zRHRYAFEAo

In reaction to Trump’s vicious attack on the former White House aide, Brennan responded on Twitter: “You’re absolutely right.”
“If you were ‘presidential,’ you would focus on healing the rifts within our Nation,” Brennan added, “being truthful about the challenges we face, & showing the world that America is still that shining beacon of freedom, liberty, prosperity, & goodness that welcomes all.”
The former CIA head has often been critical of Trump throughout his presidency, and in a scathing op-ed published by The Washington Post earlier this year, he swore to continue speaking out against the president “until integrity returns to the White House.”
Last month White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders argued that President Trump is considering removing Brennan’s security clearance amongst other top Obama-era intelligence officials.
Sanders attacked Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey for supposedly “politicizing” and “monetizing” their public service.
